From Yachts to Horses: Can’t Miss National Events

Some significant sailing, boating and sports events that are great for participants and spectators alike include the following.

Northern Territory Big Boat Regatta

This event takes place annually in November. There are no entry restrictions, as all yachts and catamarans are welcome. There are four divisions offered, which include racing, cruising, multihulls and under 30ft. The race takes place throughout two full, event-packed days. There are three windward return races hosted the first day and several other events on the second day.

Invictus Games Sailing

The Invictus Games first started in 2014, created by the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and have since taken off regarding popularity. There are many different events that participants can, and do, take part in or watch, one of which is sailing. This year, Sydney Harbour hosted the sailing event for the first time. The participants sailed from the Cruising Yacht Club located in Rushcutters Bay, all the way to Farm Cove. Those who watched did so from the beautiful harbour.

Sydney International Boat Show

This show draws quite a crowd, as it occupies the entire exhibition space of Darling Harbour, as well as additional open-air space at the Sydney International Convention Centre. The event boasts some of the world’s most impressive boats, yachts and other nautical devices.

Melbourne Cup Racing

If you are looking for a more landbased luxury event, try the Melbourne Cup. This event is the country’s largest, and most well-known, horse race, and is held on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. This prestigious event is sponsored by none other than Lexus, and brings attendees from all over the world, including some major celebrities and influencers.

Caulfield Guineas

This is another major event in the world of Australian horse races. Less known internationally, but still well attended and thought of, the race is held at the Caulfield racecourse annually.
